ALL-OUT RUSH
ENEMY'S BIG BID
Rec. noon
LONDON, Sept. 25.
A British United Press correspondent ' with the British in Holland says that more reinforcements were sent over the Neder Rhine last night than in previous nights, and it appears that the trickle is. now continuing across the river under cover of darkness. The airborne troops, however, are unquestionably getting tired. The German resistance area at Elst is definitely slackening. German paratroops, moving south-east from north of Best towards Eindhoven, yesterday made a serious threat and gained two miles before tHey were thrown back. There was less activity on the eastern flank, with the British exploiting the capture of Deurne. The Allies entered Turnhout after the enemy had withdrawn from the Escaut Canal towards the Antwerp-Turnhout Canal, which was described as possibly the last decent line before the Waal. The British are now officially stated to be pretty solid on the southern bank of the river in the Arnhem area.
The Columbia Broadcasting System's Brussels correspondent reports ■ that complete relief of the British airborne troops west of Arnhem is now definitely in sight.
The National Broadcasting Corporation's Paris correspondent says the enemy is throwing in everything he can rush to the Arnhem area. -More Luftwaffe strength is being used than the Allies have seen for many weeks.
