YOUTH IN FLAMES
USED INFLAMMABLE LIQUID O.C. SYDNEY, June 13. A Sydney youth, Leslie Francis Morvan, 17, who had washed his body and clothes in inflammable liquid, lit a match and burst into flames from head to foot.
Before leaving work he used ah ethyl compound to wash his greasestained clothes and parts of his body. When he reached home he decided to have a bath. He walked into the bathroom, turned on the ,gas heater, and struck a match. His clothes at once caught fire. He rushed out of the bathroom calling for help. Then he ran back into the bathroom and tried to put out the flames by rolling in a few inches of water in the bath. His father heard his calls for help. As the father ran into the bathroom Morvan's burning clothes fell away in pieces. The father seized a blanket, and wrapping it round Morvan put out the flames.
The lad was admitted to hospital with severe burns to the head, arms, legs, and body.
