CAPE TOWN, January 25. 1 The Prime Minister, Field-Marshal Smuts, in a speech in a debate on a motion by the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Malan, demanding an independent South African Republic, said that Dr. Malan's demand was based on an assumption that Britain, after offering everything in the common struggle, was exhausted. "With that weak, exhausted ally we" are going on to the greatest victory in history, Field-Marshal Smuts -said.
