THE STATE COAL MINERS
GREYMOUTH, January 10.
The Wallsend State mine, where work has not been resumed since the holidays began in December, is still idle today, with no indication of a settlement of the dispute. Indeed, the strike has spread further, involving the Liverpool, and Strongman mines, with the result that about 1400 tons of coal were lost today alone. Stoppage at'the two latest mines is indicated to be in sympahy with the men at Wallsend, and there is ground for belief that it will continue. -
With the decreased output, railage schedules of Grey district . coal for Westport for shipping to the North Island have -been greatly upset and projected consignments will certainly be unfulfilled.
The only State mines working today were the Dobson and Blackball.
