CHILD ELECTROCUTED

P.A.. AUCKLAND, December 17. A child died on Thursday afternoon as the result of a severe electric shock received when he came in contact -with the lead of an electric sewing machine his .mother was using. He, was James Lawrence Elliott, two years and 11 months, youngest son of Mr. G. H. Elliott, of Mount Roskill. The child was watching his mother at the machine. She heard him cry out. She turned to see him lying on the floor with the flex of the machine grasped in one hand. -There was a hole in the insulation. A doctor was called, and resorted to artificial respiration without success. An inquest was opened ■ and adjourned.
