TRANSFERENCES TO GERMANY

The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office advises that during the past week an additional 94 New Zealanders have been accounted for from various Italian camps. Of these, 91 have been transferred to Germany and three are with the Allies. Thirty-four of the number were transferred from C.C.P.G. 47, 37 from C.C.P.G. 57, and the balance was spread ■ over 10 other camps.- Forty-six of the prisoners were transferred to Stalag VIIIA and 35, to Oflag VA.. The position now-is that 1243 New Zealanders have been transferred from Italy to Germany, 73 "to Switzerland, and 156 are safe with Allied forces. Approximately 2100 prisoners, are not yet accounted for. Eight hundred prisoners formerly located at C.C.P.G. 57 are still not accounted for, 121 from C.C.P.G. 85, and from C.C.P.G. 107.,... Ninetyseven of the men interned:at C.C.P.G. 120 are still not -accounted for, but 201 out of 229 at-C.CP.G. 47 have been transferred to Germany. Ninetyone out of ,99 at C.C.P.G. 103/6 are in Germany.and 140 out of 157 are now in Germany from C.C.P.G. 103/7. ' The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office headquarters has received a cable reply in answer to an inquiry regarding the provision of clothing for New Zealanders transferred from Italy to Germany. The. cable states that a considerable number of extra clothing parcels have already been dispatched to Germany for our "men who have advised that they hajte .lost their kits and that further parcels are being sent as particulars are received. A considerable number of men report that they were able to take their kits with them. Bulk supplies of battledress,/1 underclothing, etc., have also been forwarded from Geneva stocks tq ; -reception camps in Germany, while the International Red Cross also redirects parcels addressed to Italy which have reached Switzerland since the men were first transferred at the beginning of September. Any next-of-kin in New Zealand who receives information from a prisoner of war relative, to the effect that he has arrived in Germany short of clothing should convey such information with full details and date to the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office headquarters.
