BOWLING CENTRE

ANNUAL MEETING HELD

Various suggestions and proposals for the coming season will be considered at the first meeting of the newly-elected executive of the Wellington Bowling Centre. Some of them were mentioned in the report presented at the centre's annual meet-1 ing this week, and they included sug-1 gestions for the playing of an open singles tournament and for the centre's Christmas fours and New.Year singles tournaments to be played on Hutt Valley as well as city greens, the idea being to eliminate the Hutt Valley New Year' fours. The president (Mr. J. Norrie) said that membership of clubs had been well maintained, and he expressed the hope that clubs would make every effort to increase membership. No pennant games had been played last season, but there were many inter-club friendly matches, and the centre tournaments, which had drawn splendid entries, had had good results, except for the cancellation of the Easter fixture. Visits by the centre to countryclubs had been most enjoyable. It was stated in the report that 24 clubs, with a membership of 2045, were affiliated with the centre. ■ Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—President. Mr. J. Norrie; hon. treasurer. Mr. W.E. HayMacKenzie; hon. auditor, Mr. T. K. Henderson; executive, delegates from . clubs. Mr. C. R. Ingram was ap-1 pointed previously to the position of I secretary in place of Mr. w- Gilbert, who had resigned.
