Rec. 11.30 a.m. RUGBY, July 9. Reconnaissance photographs show that vital buildings were hit in the naval base of Wilhelmshaven during the daylight attack by United States Eighth Air Force heavy bombers on June 11.
Bombs were dropped along the whole length of the harbour. Mine-sweeping depots on the adjacent island were severely bombed, and several buildings were hit near the torpedo-boat harbour used by smaller naval vessels, while barracks and a drill house were also pounded and several oil storage tanks were wiped out.
