ARMY PERSONNEL

TWO WELLINGTON OFFICERS

The Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) has been advised that the following honours and awards have been approved by his Majesty the King:— MILITARY CROSS. Captain L. H. Browne, D.C.M. Nextof kin, Mrs. E. V. M. Browne, care Army Headquarters, Wellington (w.). Captain Browne, who is 34 years of age, enlisted at Wellington at the outbreak of war, and sailed with the First Echelon. Pie has been wounded three times, and was previously awarded the D.C.M. Before enlistment he was an accountant in the Land and Income Tax Department. He is a member of the Long Range Desert Group. Captain C. E. Barnes. Next of kin: Mrs. E. J. Barnes, 91 Beauchamp Street, Karori (m.). Enlisting at Wellington in November, 1940, Captain Barnes sailed for overseas with an early reinforcements draft. He was previously employed as a civil engineer by the Public Works Department, Hobart, Tasmania. Captain A. Edmonds. Next of kin: Mr. E. H. Edmonds, 11 Audrey Street, Milford (f.). Captain Edmonds left New Zealand with the Third Echelon, and has since been mentioned in dispatches. He is 28 years of age, and in civil life was employed by the Public Works Department at Napier. MILITARY MEDAL. L/Cpl. S. A. Norris, Next of kin: Mrs. J. S. Norris, 172 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland (w.). L/Cpl. Norris, who is 27 years of age, sailed for overseas with an early reinforcements draft. In civil life he was a motor driver.
