GREATER BENEFITS FOR AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS
(Rec; 1 p.m.) CANBERRA, March 20. , After a 2S-hour sitting the House of Representatives passed the Repatriation Bill. Soldiers' pensions are increased 20 per cent. . Attempts to increase them by from 33 1-3 to 50 per cent, were not successful. • - New and important amendments to the Bill include the establishment of a Parliamentary Committee of six mem- •• bers to report on all repatriation prob- .• lems. Full pension benefits are given to tubercular soldiers of this and the last war. Free medical and hospital treatment is available for totally and permanently incapacitated, blinded, and tubercular soldiers. Increased benefits are given to the orphaned children of members of the forces.
