FOUR-FIGURE PRICE
COLT SOLD PRIVATELY
There was. a big bench of buyers and spectators at Trentham today when the second day of the National Yearling Sales was held. Pridr to the first lot entering the ring, a fine type of colt by the English Derby winner Coronach from the Beau Pere mare Lady Phroso was paraded and the auctioneer, Mr. C. Robertson, explained that he had been sold privately to Mr R. L. Atkinson, of North Queensland, at four figures. The intention is to place him in M. MqCarten's stable at Randwick and at the close of his racing career to put him to the stud. He was bred by Mr. G. F. Moore, Bushey Park, Wanganui. ; , A splendid average price was maintained this morning, a colt by Golden Eagle from Ruling r Spi, the dam of Sea Spi, winner of the Wellington Stakes last Saturday, bringing top price of .800gs, Wright, Stephenson and Co., as agents, going to that figure on behalf of a sportsman in India. Three other lots disposed of during the morning are also destined for India. The top price of the sale came after lunch for, a brown colt by Foxbridge from Rippling Waters, the bid on behalf of Mr. F. H. Mehta, of Bombay, India, silencing the opposition at 1400 gs. The succeeding lot, a colt by the same sire from Shirred Ribbon, went to Mr. L. H; Collinson, of Palmerston North, at 800gs. Sales completed were:— Gs. On account of Mr. J. B. Breen. Levels, Timaru.
