PARENTS AT WORK

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —There is one factor in regard to workers absenting themselves from their jobs after the holidays that needs to be remembered. This is the number of mothers of families who voluntarily Vent into factories. Now that the children are home from school, they find it impossible to return until the ■youngsters are back at their lessons. The alternative would be a grave injustice to the children, in that they would be left to their own devices on the streets, and a source of continual worry to the parents. In this general complaint of absence in all fairness to those concerned this needs to be taken into account and due allowance made. —I am, etc., T. PURDIE. .
