BOMBED OFF SOLOMONS
HITS OBTAINED BY U.S. PLANES-
LONDON, September 25
Washington announces a series of attacks by United States bombers on Japanese transports, and bases in the Solomons area.
Yesterday enemy transports were attacked near Shortland Island in the western Solomons. Twenty Japanese fighters tried to intercept the raiders, and an enemy bomber was shot down.
Hits were scored on the trans ports.
Marine patrols on Guadalcanar have been attacking scattered enemy units, and American planes have been bombing enemy objectives.
