DISPLAY OF HANDWORK

Special guests were Mrs. Peter Fraser and Mrs. Goddard, wife of Air Commodore Goddard, who judged the articles displayed and presented the prizes. Mrs. F, I. Kain, W.A.A.F. superintendent, Air Commodore Vincent, and Wing Commander Stedman were also present. The display included quilting, smocking, children's clothing, toys, original embroidery designs, and frocks' of all types, ranging from sports wear lo house coats. The articles represented 20 hours' work spread over a period of ten weeks. Classes were supervised by Miss .H. Johnson, Victoria College, who is on loan to the Air Department. The work is now well begun, and will be carried on by W.A.L. Oliver. The prize for dressmaking was awarded to W.A.A.F. H. Carter, and for handcraft to W.A.A.F. McCarthy. A presentation was made by the girls to their instructress, Miss Johnson. A musical programme by W.A.A.F.S and R.A.F. trainees included songs, pianoforte, and violin items.
