GUNNAR HAEGG'S NEW FEAT

(Rec. 9 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, July 19. Gunnar Haegg established a new world record for 1500 metres of 3min 45 4-ssec. This time beats the 3min 47 4-ssec recorded by J. E. Lovelock, the New Zealander, at the Olympic Games at Berlin in 1936, which was the previous world best amateur record. Glenn Cunningham (U.S.A.) came next, with 3min 48 2-ssec, and L. Beccali (Italy) followed with 3min 49 l-ssec. Last August Haegg ran the 1500 metres in 3rnin 47 3-ssec, which also bettered Lovelock's time. This time has not yet been accepted.
