MAKARA COUNTY'S FINANCES

Reporting to the annual meeting of the Makara County Council, the County Clerk (Mr. H. Pickford) stated that the financial year to March 31 last had ended with a credit balance, of £6105, which included £3972 in hand at the beginning of the year. The total rates levied were £10,516, and the collection amounted to, £11,271, including £1962 of arrears. A sum of £ 500. had been. set aside for a plant repair and renewal and replacement fund. Mr. Pickford said the records showed that it was the second year in which the council had been able to get through without recourse to yank overdraft and consequent payment of interest.
