INDIANS FROM BURMA
NEW DELHI, June 11. A total of 400,000 of the 1,100,000' Indians who were in Burma have been evacuated since the country was overrun. Refugees are still pouring into India at the rate of 1000 a day. Refugees state that the Japanese granted permission for any Indian to make the long trek across the frontier. The Secretary for India and Burma, Mr. L. S. Amery, stated in the House of Commons that two Burmese Ministers, the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, were at the headquarters of the Government of Burma in India. The other Burmese Ministers had preferred to remain in Burma. U. Maung Saw was still interned.
