DANGEROUS SPY RING
INDICTMENTS IN U.S.A
NEW YORK, June 11. At Hartford, Connecticut, the Federal Court indicted members of the "No. 1 spy ring," including a former official of the ill-famed Ger-man-American Bund, Gerhard Kunze, the leader of a Russian Fascist party, Andreievich Vonsiatsky, Otto Willumeit, the former publisher of the Fascist magazine "Free America," a former German army officer, Wolfgang Ebell, and a Lutheran pastor, Kurt Kolzahn, who was also a former German army officer. The authorities assert that it is the most dangerous spy ring unearthed since Pearl Harbour. It is explained that all the defendants till January last year supplied Germany and Japan with a flow of information about American defence, armament, and naval secrets. The investigation resulted in the interception of innumerable codes, signal books, photos, and blueprints which ' were being transmitted to the Axis. Vonsiatsky, Willumeit, and Ebell are under arrest, and the others are supposed to be in hiding somewhere in the country. Vonsiatsky's counsel asked that his client be sent to an asylum because of his "colossal delusiotas of grandeur."
