Russians Holding Out

LONDON, June 11. The Russian garrison at .Sebastopol still holds out against the unrelenting assaults of German dive-bombers, heavy infantry, and massed artillery. Seven attacks are reported from Sebastopol today. The German High Command claims that they have managed to gain some ground at Sebastopol. The Nazis say fighting has been very hard and the Russian fortification system has been constructed on the most modern lines. Russian troops are reported to have broken into a large inhabited locality on the Kalinin front, and fierce street fighting is going on from house to house. ■ The latest Moscow communique says that in the Kharkov sector Russian troops fought against enemy tanks and infantry. At Sebastopol stubborn lighting1 continued and Russian troops repulsed enemy attacks and inflicted heavy losses.

There is no confirmation in London of the Vichy report that German forces had crossed the Kerch Peninsula.
