OVER SNOW-BOUND LAND
RUSSIANS PRESS WESTWARD
MOSCOW, January 27,
Winter has taken a firmer grip throughout the Russian front. Seventytwo degrees of frost Fahrenheit is common from Kursk to Leningrad, and in some sectors even 90 degrees of frost.
The Russians continue to advance in the sectors from Kholm to the southern part of the central - front Their heavy sustained pressure on the Ukraine and Donets fronts is apparently also carrying them steadily westward. The Germans admit fierce defensive fighting on these fronts.
