GENEROUS RESPONSE

Appeal For Binoculars

The Government's appeal for binoculars for use by the armed forces has met with a ready and extremely gratifying response. The first consignment, consisting of about twenty hampers, reached headquarters today, and an immediate start was made with the sorting and classifying of them. It was estimated that there were more than 1000 pairs of binoculars in today's consignment, and a large proportion of them were straight-out gifts. Included with the binoculars were a number of telescopes, complete with their tripods.

The military authorities state that because of the number to be dealt with, there may be a slight delay in acknowledging the generous action of those who have responded to the appeal.
