SIX APPOINTMENTS
The strength of the Legislative Council, which recently dropped to thirty-one members, has been brought up to thirty-seven by three reappointments and three new appointments.
The Acting Prime Minister (Mr. Nash) announced today that Mr. T. Bloodwbrth (Auckland), Mr. E. R. Davis (Auckland), and Mr. J. McLeod (Taranaki) had been -reappointed to the Council, and that Mr. Walter Black (Nelson), Mr. F. G. Young (Auckland), and Mr. P. J. O'Kane (Frasertown, Hawke's Bay) had been appointed members.
The three members reappoirited have been absent from the Council for about two months.
Of the new appointments, Mr. Young is the.best known. He is secretary of the Hotel Workers' Union at Auckland, a member of the Federation of Labour, s and a member of the Economic Stabilisation Committee.
Mr. Black is a Nelson business man, and Mr. O'Kane is a farmer.
