POSTPONED

LONDON, September, 7,

The death is announced of Mrs. Sara Delano . Roosevelt, President Roosevelt's mother, at Hyde Park, New York. She was nearly 87.

"The.President spent the weekend at Hyde Park, and was at his mother's bedside when she died.

Mrs. Roosevelt guided the early education of the President, and watched his political rise from State Senator to the White House.

Because d this bereavement, the President's broadcast has been postponed till Thursday. There is still no indication of what will form the sub-

ject of his talk, but the AttorneyGeneral, Mr. Francis Biddle, said that the broadcast would undoubtedly- deal with the explosive international situation arising from the attack on the ■Greer, and the Berlin statement that the German submarine was attacked first.

Mr. Biddle stressed the need for fuller discussion of United States Government policy, and added, "We are tin the very edge, of war."
