CANBERRA, July 2
" The Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, assured the House of Representatives today that the changeover from civil to wax industry .would not be performed suddenly or without regard to the consequences. He gave the opinion that there was unnecessary hysteria, and fear, and that people were wrongly expecting new and heavy blows as a result of the petrol and newsprint rationing and the building restrictions.
Broadly speaking, those in work could regard themselves as engaged in essential industries until the Government issued notification to the contrary, he added.
Mr. Menzies announced tonight that the Government was not immediately going, on with the Arbitration Amendment Bill outlawing strikes and lockouts.
