JAPANESE REGRET BOMBING
(Rec. 2 p.m.) SHANGHAI, July 1
A Japanese naval spokesman expressed official regret at the injuries received by Sir Arthur Blackburn, Counsellor at the British Embassy in Chungking, during a Japanese bombing raid, and suggested that, to eliminate future danger, the British Embassy should be evacuated to the safety zone on the south bank of the Yangtze where the United States Embassy is situated.
