FULL ALLIANCE
GERMANY AND RUSSIA
LONDON NEWSPAPER OPINION
SOVIET SEES THREAT
LONDON, May 20,
The "Daily Express" says that Russia and Germany are believed to be beginning negotiations for a complete military alliance. M. Stalin, it is reported, desires this as a means of staving off the threat to Soviet interests which is envisaged in a German conquest of Europe.
The "Daily Mail" agrees that Russia and Germany are negotiating for a full alliance and adds that on the outcome of the preliminary discussions depends the possibility of Hitler and Stalin meeting.
Hitler's plan for world domination includes peaceful penetration in Russia by political pressure.—U.P.A.
A message received yesterday reported a statement by the Ankara correspondent of the "New York Times'" of news in shipping circles that Germany was negotiating for the use of Russian' ships 'in the Black Sea to carry war materials to Russian ports for transhipment to Iran. Germany, it was said, was also believed to be seeking permission to ship troops and war materials across the Black Sea and then across Caucasia to Irak.
It was also reported in Ankara that Russia had agreed to relinquish her share in the control of the Danube delta, in exchange for certain gains in the Middle East, possibly a warmwater port on the Persian Gulf.
