RELEASE OF NEWS
BRITISH & ENEMY PRACTICE
LONDON, May 21
A question affecting the release of news for the benefit of listeners both in this country and overseas was asked in the House of Commons today. Mr. Harold Nicolson, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Information, replied that news put out by the German* and Italians was in many cases unconfirmed news which the enemy were only too anxious for us to confirm or deny. Apart from this and security considerations, there was no reason why news should not be released immediately. When it was pointed out that there was considerable anxiety here and elsewhere that confirmed news should be released as rapidly as possible, Mr. Nicolson assured the House that the Minister of Information was giving the matter constant attention.
