MILDER TEMPERATURES
Special forecast for Wellington:— North-westerly winds, becoming strong tomorrow. Weather fair to cloudy, with somewhat milder temperatures. The further outlook is for unsettled weather, probably by Saturday. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole is for northwesterly winds. These wall be fresh to" strong about and south of Cook Strait, with local gales tomorrow, but elsewhere they will be moderate. A change to moderate westerlies is probable later in Otago and Southland. Scattered light rain or drizzle will develop gradually from the south in western districts from Taranaki southward and in Southland, where the weather will be cloudy to overcast, but elsewhere conditions will continue fair to fine. There will be moderate frosts again tonight, more especially in the North Island, but day temperatures will be rising.
Yesterday's weather was fine and cool generally, with light or moderate breezes. There were hard frosts last night in both islands, Christchurch having one of 13.5 degrees. Wellington just escaped another frost. Yesterday's temperatures ranged between 53.4 and 40.2 degrees, while eight hours of bright sunshine were recorded. In western districts this morning the weather was becoming cloudy. The rainfall to date this month totals 3.36 inches. SUN, MOON, AND TIDES.
