RUINED BY BOMBS

SACRED HEART CONVENT

Among the many buildings in London destroyed in air raids was the Convent of the Sacred Heart at Roehampton. In September last year "the house suffered considerably, and in October no fewer than 120 incendiary bombs fell and started fires that consumed' the greater part of the school buildings. The original Georgian mansion, which was standing before Trafalgar, has also fallen. Next year marks the centenary of the convent, and an appeal is made by the old children of the Convent of the Sacred Heart at Island Bay, Wellington, for funds to go towards the cost of rebuilding this famous institution. Donations may be forwarded to Mrs. D. Riddiford, Longwood, Featherston, or Mrs. C. MacDermott, Box 624, Wellington, or to the convent at Island Bay.
