PERSONAL NOTES

The Minister of Munitions and Supply (Mr. Sullivan) left for Auckland last night. He expects to return to Wellington early next week.

Mr. R. McKeen, M.P., accompanied by Mrs. McKeen, will leave tonight for a visit to Christchurch and Dunedin. They will be absent from Wellington for about a week.

Mr. Angus Mcßean, son of the Rev. A. Mcßean'and Mrs. Mcßean, Ashburton, has been appointed to a position in the British Legation at Berne, Switzerland. He began his new duties in April. Mr. Mcßean was formerly on the literary staff of the "New Zealand Herald" in Auckland, and for the last six years he has been in charge of the English section of the International College at St. Gall, Switzerland, where his position will be available at the end of the war.

Mr. A. W. Scott, advertising manager of the "Taranaki Daily News," has been appointed manager of the "StarSun," Christchurch, and leaves New Plymouth about the middle of June to take up his new appointment.

Mr. A. Nixon has been appointed secretary of the Auckland Education Board in succession to Mr. D. W. Dunlop, who has resigned. Mr. Nixon's appointment and Mr*. Dunlop's resignation take effect from July 31. Mr. Nixon, who was educated at the Ponsonby School and the Auckland Grammar School, has been in the employ of the board for over 30 years. For several years he has acted as assistant secretary to the board.

Mr. J. L. Hay, formerly of Wellington, has been re-elected president of the Christchurch Young Men's Christian Association.

Mr. P. M. Butler will leave for Nelson by tonight's steamer.
