AIR CASUALTIES

The following Air Force casualties were announced today:—

Sergeant Erie Rutherford Fremlin, R.N.Z.A.F., killed in flying accident. Mr. C. C. Fremlin, 44 Brown Street, Ponsonby, Auckland (f.).

Pilot Officer Frederick Kenneth Gill, R.A.F., missing on air operations. Mrs. B. Gill, 4 Macky Avenue, Devonport, Auckland (m.).

Pilot Officer Edward Colin Joseph Cameron, previously reported missing believed killed in action, July, 1940, death officially presumed. Mr. A. B. Cameron. Hobson Street, Waihi (f.).

Pilot Officer Donald Gordon Cobden, previously reported missing, August, 1940, death officially presumed. Mr. A. _p. Cobden, Tillman Avenue, Christchurch (f.).

Flying Officer Samuel Miles MacKenzie Watson, previously reported missing believed killed, July, 1940, death officially presumed. Mr. M. Watson, 8 Halsweli Street, Wellington (f.).

Pilot Officer lan Dromgoole, previously reported missing, believed killed, May, 1940. death now officially confirmed. Mr. V. P. Dromgoole, 14 St. David Street, Lyttelton (f.).

Pilot Officer Cobden was well known as a Canterbury and New Zealand Rugby football representative. It was he who was injured during the first Test with the Springboks at Wellington in 1937, that match being won by the New Zealand side, which, for more than half the game, was one short in the pack, a forward (R. H. Ward) taking Cobden's place in the three-quarter line.
