PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
•'City Councils of the past are handing to the new council a wonderful heritage of thought and achievement," said Mr. W. H. Stevens, a Citizens' candidate, at Karori. '"They have planned ahead, looking forward sometimes for 100 years. We, in our turn, must also look ahead and so plan our activities that we will not only serve our day and generation, but also the millions of people who will come after us. From the catchment areas at the upper reaches of the Hutt River we can bring into the city by a gravity system, sufficient water not only for city purposes, but also sufficient to serve the manufacturing and housing needs of great industrial areas at Ngahauranga, Johnsonville, and Tawa Flat.
