KILBIRNIE'S LEAD
LOCAL COMPETITIONS
A strong position has been established by Kilbirnie in the contest for club championship honours iii Wellington cricket this season. It was with a lead of 117 points that the club entered the present series of two-day matches, and, with the season now well advanced, it would seem that the leaders are not likely to be deposed.
The Institute Old Boys Club, which also has a fine record (including the highest aggregate of points for any season) in this annual competition, is now in second place, closely followed by Hutt. It is a matter of particular interest that two clubs in adjoining suburban areas and not holding senior status occupy prominent places in the competition. They are Onslow (fourth) and Johnsonville (sixth>.
The club championship points at the end of the seventh round of two-day matches were:—Kilbirnie 655, Institute 581, Hutt 538, Onslow 383, Karori 363, Johnsonville 303, Midland 271, Wellington College Old Boys 206, Petone 190, Wellington 169, St. Pat's Old Boys 147, Hospital 135, University 111, Petone East 111, Railways 87, Brooklyn 69, Air Force 63, Wellington College 63, V.M.C.A. 0.
