"A CRUEL BLOW"
EXCHANGE OF MESSAGES

RUGBY, December 15
Telegrams exchanged between Mr. Cordell Hull and the Prime Minister in connection with Lord Lothian's death, have now been published. Mr. Hull's telegram reads: "It is with deep sorrow that I received news of the death of Lord Lothian. I desire to express to you and the British Government my sincere condolences. My country mourns with Great Britain the loss of this distinguished statesman, who, with courage and unfailing devotion, rendered outstanding service for his nation and humanity."
Mr. Churchill replied: "I deeply appreciate your message about Lord Lothian. His loss' is a cruel blow to this country, and will be profoundly regretted, by all who have the cause of Anglo-American friendship at heart."
