BLOCKADE LIFTED
WESTERN SETTLEMENT
(Received December 16, 1 p.m.) SHANGHAI, December 15. The blockade of the western part of the International Settlement area has been lifted.
It is believed that the Japanese have arrested several persons implicated in the assassination of a Japanese gendarme.
On December 3 Japanese gendarmes announced a formal blockade of the western settlement area and issued regulations under which foreign residents would be permitted entrance or exit subject to the discretion of Japanese officers in issuing passes.
