CIVIL WAR FEARED

BRAWLS IN HOLLAND

AN INEFFECTIVE APPEAL

THE NAZI MENACE

IBy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.!

(Received December 14, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, December 13

The Free Dutch newspaper "Vrij Nederland" says that a Dutch political organisation, the National Hertsel, distributed a pamphlet in Holland declaring that Holland was on the verge of civil war and appealing to Dutchmen to cease fighting Dutchmen. However, the appeal was ineffective, and brawls between Dutch Nazis and. others continue.

The Nazi Commissioner for the Netherlands, Dr. Seyss-Inquart, having failed to Nazify the country, encouraged the' organisation of the Netherlands Union, believing that it would help to conciliate the people towards the new regime. The organisation, which quickly secured 500,000 members, has now enraged the Germans by announcing that it is admitting Jews to membership.

The Dutch Nazi fuhrer, Anton Mussert, issued a warning against a re r petition of 1815, when a fishing smack landed the Prince of Orange at Scheveningen.

Six schoolboys who were arrested for placing a spirit lamp under a vital electric cable have become heroes at Haarlem. They were charged with sabotage and subjected to third degree methods, but refused to implicate their parents. They told the German military court that they had formed a secret organisation to combat the Hitler youth.
