FOR SUN AND SEA
CHARACTER IN COSTUMES
ENCHANTING NEW THEMES
Stay-at-home or holiday-maker, one thing is practically certain and that is, your intention to go beaehwards and sunwards at the first opportunity... Glamour clothes for beach wear are the order of the hour and you will have little difficulty in finding apparel to fit your every mood and occasion in this respect. Fun clothes go the de-luxe way with many enchanting new themes. To start with, there is the very important all-white vogue which makes a dazzling- success of play-suits- and beach costumes. Frosty white rayon faille rep goes into the making of some of the season's smartest garments. "GLAMOUR" ON THE BEACH. White linked with navy makes a dramatic costume .which goes by the name of a cocktail suit but which would be equally suited to disporting on the beach. Nayy is shown in the gauzy blouse of triple georgette with full balloon sleeves and high buttoned neckline. Sketched is a very new idea in the play-togs line. It is the "cover-up"
suit featuring an exciting colour combination. The tightly-fitting blouse is |of tangerine crepe as are the shorts which are worn under the fully-gath-ered skirt of black silk jersey. Add to this a wide belt of chartreuse suede and you have some idea of how I "glamour" will make its entrance lo the beach. FUN SHOES AND GAGA GOGGLES. It is not enough to be clad in a slick, brilliant suit: it is also necessary to have the fitting accessories to match up with the ensemble. Fun ! shoes are a rollicking host of rainbow j hued creations to enchant both the j wearer and the beholder. It is a fact that they have never been quite so gay, lovely, and all-purposeful with their jaunty wedge soles and cool simplicity, as they are this year. Then there are the new designs in sun-goggles which have just reached these shores. Frames on these goggles are exotic and amusing. Sometimes they are made of plastic to resemble tortoiseshell or else pale smoky pink or blue with lenses to tone. In beach bag fashions shiny American cloth, fish net, and novelty shapes are forecast. Baskets of wicker lined with water-repellant canvas also go tt> the sand and surf as carry-all containers for cosmetics, swim shoes, and suit. M.R.
