WELLINGTON ACTIVITIES
Although the first inter-club track and field meeting of the new season was scheduled for today there has been considerable activity among clubs in Wellington for some time now. Club training nights have been, well attended, and although a large percentage of the senior members of all clubs are serving in the armed forces there is an abundance of promising talent. The Saturday afternoon training scheme, which includes physical instruction and general track work under the guidance of J. Gilmore, with one or two assistants, is proving most successful. The Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association intends conducting short meetings on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer, and other gatherings to stimulate interest among athletes are the Wellington versus Wanganui fixture and a possible interprovincial meeting with Canterbury at the Basin Reserve. Well-known athletes who have been showing early form are C. Dickie, R. Kidd, R. Appleby, K. Guy, A. Kofoed, J. Tracey, and Townsend. I
