CANBERRA, December 12,

The Federal Treasurer announced tonight that compulsory payments of income tax will be deductible from salaries and wages as from the first payday in January under the wartime. Budget, as follows, for taxpayers without dependents:—On a salary of £5 a wek, a deduction of ss; to £6, 9s; £7, 14s; £8, 20s; £9, 22s 6d; £10, 30s; £12, 425; £14, 495; £16, 565; £18, 81s; £19, 958.

Taxpayers with dependents win b« allowed to make. a deduction of 5g from the tax payable in respect of each dependent.
