KEEPING THE GAME GOING
WELLINGTON'S ENCOURAGING OUTLOOK
(By "Not Out.")
Cricket club officials will find plenty to do in the season for which they arc now preparing. They face a difficult period in the history of the game, and much will depend upon their interest and enthusiasm, as to how far the game can progress in ano'ciiev wartime season. It is a time when a great deal can he done for the younger players and for those who are serving with the Forces, as well as for those who keep the home fires burning. Everything possible should be done to keep cricket alive, to have its house in thoroughly srood order for the welcome home to the soldier cricketers when they have succeeded in their great contest. As a well-known enthusiast remarked the other day, "Now is the time for all good men to come to tiis aid of the parly." j
The clubs have elected their administrative officers, and indications are that through their efforts, and what help is given them, the season's operations in Wellington • -ill have a very satisfactory result considering the difficult times. However, the arrangements may have to be altered if the grounds are not available. There was some doubt this week as to whether the grounds would be ready in time for the official start to be made next Saturday. When the word is given it will be found that, in spite of the heavy contribution to the Services, there will be very many cricketers only too eager to make use of the areas made available to them..
