GREECE TO ANSWER
ITALIAN THREATS
BRITAIN'S "SILENT ALLY"

A message from Rome says that an Italian spokesman accused Greece of having territorial designs in Albania, and. indicated that Mussolini would sooner or later demand parts of Greek and Yugoslav territory for Albania in general settlement.
The "Popolo di Roma" reports that an Albanian Fascist, Leonardo Ciurcovich, was murdered in Italian Dalmatia. Importance is attached to the murder because of the longstanding Italian campaign to separate Dalmatia from Yugoslavia. Signor Gayda said that Italy expected Greece to answer for new crimes and declared that Italy would not tolerate Greece's acts against the independence of Albania. He added that Greece had long been the silent ally of and an agitator for the democracies. From the first day of the war Greece conducted a corrosive action on the Albanian front and offered aid by the use of its territory by the British, of which it became a more open accomplice daily. ROME, August 12. The Italian Press, in a chorus against Greece, says Fascist circles are threatening invasion if Greece abandons her neutrality.
