MEN ON LEAVE

PETROL ALLOWANCE

OTAGO RECOMMENDATION

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. A meeting of the Automobile Association (Otago) passed a resolution recommending that the Motor Union make representations to have the regulations relaxed so that members of the forces on final leave could obtain on application a petrol allowance for special needs. The matter originated from the secretary, who said that he had been approached by men on leave to obtain petrol for them to visit relatives in the country, but an application to the Oil Fuel Controller was unsuccessful. The secretary added that troops in England were allowed petrol for 300 miles in addition to their coupons.
