MAJOR R. STUART-FRENCH

The "Sydney Morning Herald" announces the wedding in Sydney on August 8 of Major Robin StuartFrench,. 11th Hussars, Military Secretary of the Governor-General of New Zealand, to Mrs. Joy Denbigh Russell, elder daughter of Mr. A. Allen-Jones and of the. late Mrs. Allen-Jones, of South Australia.

The bridesmaid was Miss Alison Vercoe, oi Adelaide, and the best man Lieutenant Jock Pagan, A.I.F. The Rev. George Cowie officiated at the ceremony at the Fullerton Memorial Church, and after the wedding a party was held at Mrs. Stuart-French's flat in King's Lynn, Elizabeth Bay.

French Club Entertainment. At the recent meeting of the French Club it was announced that the bronze bust presented by Miss M. Butler in aid of the National Patriotic Fund had been raffled for £37, and was won by Miss S. Eichelbaum. The programme was arranged by Madame Betts-Vin-cent, who gave a causerie on eminent composers enlivened by anecdotes and illustrated on the piano by Preludes from Chopin, Bach, Grieg, and Rachmaninoff. • A most amusing comedy by Gabriel d'Hervilliez, "La Donation" was presented, the chief honours being carried off by Mr. G. F. Balham as a cunning and inebriated peasant whose "patois" was inimitable. The other roles were capably filled by Madame Retts-Vincent, Dr. Carbery, and MessrsCharlton and Gillespie. Madame Bendall received the guests and Mademoiselle Jeanne Cartier conducted the conversation class.
