ST. GEORGE V. PETONE

St. George beat Petone by 14 points to 10 in a senior Rugby League match at Newtown Part Petone had the advantage in the scrums, but this was nullified by their rearguard's persisting in passing the slippery ball. Their heavy forwards failed to use the wind to full advantage. It was in the second spell that St. George's forwards, led by Herkt, penetrated Petone's defence. They kicked the ball high and backs finished off the movements. Edie (St. George's left winger) ran from half-way, outpaced the opposition, and Scored a spectacular try. Petone's tries were scored by K. Bevan and Stewart. IVrkinson converted a try and kicked a penalty goal. For St. George, Wahinia, Swanberg, Edie (2). scored tries. O'Connor converted a try. Mr. W. E.
