SWIFTS' CLEAR WIN
Technical Old Boys were several men short at the beginning of their game with Swifts on Anderson Park, but even if they had had a full team. Swifts would probably have won, as they were showing remarkable ball control on a very heavy ground. Technical had only four men in their forward line, but they showed their usual dash, and sometimes worried the sound Swifts' defence. However, they scored only once, Llddicoat towards the end of the game, netting from a pass in front of the goal by Cox.
For Swifts, Baker was outstanding, four goals out of a total of ten coming from his boot. P. Macgregor's two goals were both bright efforts, and throughout the second half, when the ball stayed mostly with Swifts' right wing and centre, he was prominent although frequently effectively countered by McKenzie, Technicals right back. Other scorers for Swifts were Long, Hickmott, and Chapman.
W. Chapman, Swifts' centre-half, has been selected to train with the players from whom Wellington's eleven to play Auckland for the Campbell Rose Bowl on August 10 will be picked.
