Moderate temperatures. : The general forecast for the Do-; minion as a whole is for variable winds at first in toe Auckland Province.; Otherwise light to moderate northerly: to westerly winds will predominate,, and south of Taranaki and Hawfces; Bay these will freshen. In the western-; and far southern districts of the South; Island the weather will be unsettled with occasional rain. Elsewhere it will be fair to fine, but showers will extend later to Taranaki and Manawatu. There will be some frosts again tonight, but temperatures will become rather milder. A weak anticyclone is centred over the North Island, while a shallow depression is advancing across the southern Tasman Sea. Southerly to south-westerly winds have been general over most of the country, but these I have gradually decreased in force and winds this morning were light to i moderate and rather variable. In eastern areas of the Norih Island the weather has continued changeable with occasional showers, while elsewhere it has been fair to fine and cold. There were many hard frosts in both Islands again last night, but the weather-«his morning was somewhat milder and fair to fine. i Wellington's weather yesterday was cloudy and cold, with temperatures ranging between 46 and 36.5 degrees.; A fresh southerly wind decreased by midnight, and during the lull before a northerly set in a frost of three degrees was recorded at Kelburn.
