SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

An anticyclone is centred over the North Island, while a shallow disturbance is advancing across the south Tasman Sea. Southerly to south-westerly winds have been fairly general, but these have gradually decreased in force and this morning winds are light to moderate in force and rather variable in direction. Scattered showers have continued in eastern areas of the North Island, but elsewhere the weather has been fair to flne though cold, heavy frosts occurring in both islands last night. !
