A GOOD START
Early reports indicate that the appeal is producing a splendid response.
The hon. Dominion organiser and treasurer, Mr. J. Abel, reported at noon today that in Christchurch there was £2000 in hand. Mr. E. H. S. Hamilton, secretary of the Canterbury Provincial Committee, had stated that before lunch at the Rotary Club at Christchurch today he had been handed £600, including a cheque for £300 from Mr. J. R. McKenzie.
Auckland reports £3000 in hand for the first day, and Wellington has collected £1100.
Dunedin reports that £2000 has been collected.
This afternoon it was reported that £2000 had been subscribed in Napier.
