EVACUATION STARTS

TESTING OF A.R.P.

LONDON, May 13. The evacuation of the civil population from towns along the frontier between Egypt and Lybia began tonight. A black-out is being imposed throughout the country to test the air defences, and the new dam across the Nile, north of Cairo, has been declared a prohibited area.

The Allied naval concentration is the greatest since the outbreak of war. Egypt has begun the evacuation of civilians, who were being told immediately to leave Matruh and Es Solum, both of which are aerodromes and seaplane bases, and alsq Sidi Barrani.
