WEDDING IN CHRISTCHURCH
A wedding of wide interest in the North Island and in aviation circles in Christchurch was celebrated on Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey S. Smith, Riccarton, states the "Press." The bride was Mary Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. P. Chinchen, of Remuera, Auckland, formerly of London, and the bridegroom was Warwick Ritchie Crawford Lawrence, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Wigram, eldest son of Mr. and the late Mrs. James A. B. Lawrence, Carterton, Wairarapa. The altar in the drawing-room was decorated with red roses and cream freesias. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father T. Hanrahan, parish priest of Riccarton, and in the absence of the bride's father Mr. Geoffrey Smith gave her away. She wore a smartly-tailored frock of pale blue wool sheer, trimmed with navy blue velvet, and a small navy felt hat softened with a veil. She carried a muff of golden nutria on which was a spray of dark red roses and daphne. Miss Alison Milsom (Auckland) was bridesmaid, and her flower girl was Barbara Smith. Both the bridegroom and the best man, Leading Aircraftman J M. S. Ross, Dunedin, wore Air Force uniform.
